A 32-year-old man in Lincoln, Nebraska, was sentenced Tuesday to 38 to 40 years in prison for sexually abusing a teenage girl for three years.
The teenager, whose name has not been disclosed, first reported being sexually abused by Daniel Stalder to Lincoln police on July 14, 2020, KLKN reported, citing court records.
Stalder initiated sexual intercourse with the victim over 100 times beginning when the girl was 14 years old.
The abuse occurred multiple times a week when the victim was between the ages of 14 and 16. The victim said she became pregnant with Stalder's child during this period.
The teen said Stalder gave her a pill requesting she terminate the pregnancy. The pill caused an allergic reaction that led to the victim being hospitalized and learning that she had miscarried.
The victim told authorities she waited to report the abuse because "she knew her sexual relationship with Stalder was wrong and she was never 'for it,'" according to court records.
Court records said that Stalder would find ways to make the girl feel guilty if she refused to have intercourse with him. He also gifted the teenager with an iPhone and a vehicle.
A police investigation included multiple recorded phone calls the girl made to Stalder over one month.
In the calls, the 32-year-old man never disagreed or denied the relationship. However, Stalder did state that he was sorry for the agony that the girl was put through.
Stalder pleaded no contest to two counts of attempted first-degree sexual assault of a minor.
