A 36-year-old man in Dallas, Texas, has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of sex trafficking after he sold a 19-year-old woman as a sex slave to a South Carolina man.

Alfonso Orozco Juarez entered the plea Thursday as part of a plea agreement. He had also faced a charge of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Juarez's attorney, Ezekiel Tyson, has not responded to a request for comment, according to the outlet.

Tyson previously told the news outlet that sex-slave relationships can be "very consensual" and not necessarily criminal.

Juarez met the victim, who lived in New Mexico, on a social media site while she was visiting her boyfriend in Dallas in summer 2019, according to authorities.

The 36-year-old asked the young woman, whose name was not disclosed, if she wanted to make some money and later visited her at her motel room.

The woman said Juarez gave her methamphetamine and was physically abusive. She said he hit her on the head with a gun at one point, according to authorities.

Juarez paid for the woman to fly back to Dallas several times afterward and arranged for her to perform sex acts in exchange for drugs and money.

The woman told authorities that she kept coming back for the drugs and because Juarez made threats against her and her family.

In September 2019, Juarez posted an ad on a social media site offering the 19-year-old for sale as a sex slave.

On the day Juarez made the post, 67-year-old Robert Gene Hubert of South Carolina responded to the post and offered to purchase the woman for $5,000.

During negotiations for the sale, Juarez told Hubert that he "had to pistol-whip her [one] time for discipline [and] she submitted fully after that," court documents said.

Juarez also sent nude photos of the 19-year-old to Hubert and said that she was "totally dependent" on him, according to court documents.

The two eventually met at a Dallas gas station, and Hubert paid Juarez $5,000 in exchange for the woman.

The woman said Hubert put a metal collar on her neck and said he wanted to brand her buttocks. Hubert's home had a dungeon, and the victim and another woman there were required to be naked at all times, according to court documents. The identity of the other woman and her relationship with Hubert were not disclosed.

At one point, the 19-year-old was able to call her parents, and she eventually returned to her family in New Mexico.

Juarez is set to be sentenced on July 14. He is facing 15 years to life in prison.

Hubert pleaded guilty in February to conspiracy to commit sex trafficking. He will be sentenced in May.
