Man Works On Laptop While Riding Pillion On Moving Bike, Viral Picture Shows
The pandemic has led to a rise in flexible work hours and people working remotely. Even though offices are reopening now, many people still find it convenient to work during odd hours, as was seen in India when a man was caught on camera, working on his laptop, while riding pillion on a bike.
LinkedIn user Harshmeet Singh shared the now-viral picture, where the man was seen engrossed in his work, while riding the pillion seat. The bike was seen navigating heavy traffic on what seemed like a busy city overpass.
The picture was reportedly captured in the southern city of Bengaluru, which is dubbed India's tech capital.
"Bangalore at its best or worst? 11 pm, Bangalore - One of the busiest flyovers in the city, and here is a pillion rider working on his laptop," Singh wrote in the post's description. The clip has now amassed over 4,500 reactions and 120 comments, with many internet users saying it wasn't worth risking one's life to meet a work deadline, according to News 18 which obtained the picture.
Singh argued the picture shows how companies demand only professionalism from employees, even if it means putting their safety at risk.
In the caption, Singh urged employers to be a little more considerate while assigning projects to the staff members.
"If you as a boss have been able to terrorize your colleagues to meet the deadline at the cost of their own safety, it is time for you to think again. Let’s use the phrase ‘IT’S URGENT’ and ‘DO IT ASAP’ more carefully, especially if you are in a position of power. You have no idea the impact these words have on the lives of your subordinates," he wrote.
The post, however, divided the internet users. While many sided with Singh in saying that companies should respect their employees' work-life balance, the others argued it was wrong to blame the company as the man may not have completed his task on time.
"This kind of act is called stupidity ... he must stop and do finished his assigned task (if any)," one user wrote in the comment, according to Times Now News.
A third person argued he must have been doing some other work on his laptop, such as booking a flight or some other personal work.
