  • Manchester City's John Stones is set to make an appearance on the pitch on their next match against Newcastle
  • It has been speculated that Stones may return to Everton
  • Pep Guardiola shared that he wants the best for Stones in his career

The future of Manchester City’s John Stones remains to be uncertain with several teams gaining interest in his services. While Stones is set to start in their next match against Newcastle, clubs such as Everton speculated for a possible return of their center back.

Per Goal.com, Pep Guardiola revealed that Stones would be suiting up in the starting lineup for their bout at the Etihad Stadium against Newcastle. This will be his first start since the games resumed from the coronavirus suspension due to an injury. The last time he put minutes on the pitch was back in February against West Ham United.

Despite the news of Stones playing in their next game, there’s no certainty that he will remain with Manchester City. The possibility of moving their defender elsewhere is something Guardiola and Stones would have to discuss when the games are done.

“On the transfer market, we will speak at the end of the season,” Guardiola said.

With the current situation, Guardiola wants the best for Stones in the future. Throughout Stones’ stint with Manchester City, Guardiola hasn’t held back any praises for the 26-year-old.

“I’ve said many times I’m more than delighted with John as a person, as a pro, everything.

It has been difficult for the squad when someone of Stones’ caliber endures a rough stretch in his career.

“Sometimes my wish is not the wish of the players or the wish of the situation for the club. At the moment I will feel it, if we have to change, we’ll talk to them. He’s a young player and we want him to be consistent, to train and recover,” Guardiola added.

While everybody wants the best for their careers, sometimes these setbacks happen. No matter how willing one is, the difficulties of the unsuspected hindrances will occur.

“The quality of John is there, I never doubted it for one second. It’s just when you don’t play, you are rotated and injured again, and injured again,” Guardiola shared.

It will be interesting to see how Manchester City will move on with Stones and where the two-time English Champion will end up in the future.
