Manchester United appears to be not only focused on closing out the transfer of Jadon Sancho this summer.
Widespread rumors swirl around the sport that Manchester United is indeed finally sealing a deal to bring in Borussia Dortmund star Sancho.
A fresh update from veteran German journalist Christian Falk stated that the Red Devils have already come up with a “new offer” for Sancho, and both clubs are “close to an agreement.”
However, as the English winger’s move to Old Trafford takes a step closer to reality, Manchester United is also intending to launch another transfer swoop for a “new center-back,” according to reputable transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.
“Manchester United are still working on [Jadon] Sancho deal but will also be focusing on new center-back this summer,” Romano tweeted.
Romano further noted that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has its sights on two of the most remarkable La Liga defenders in modern-day football–Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Villarreal’s Pau Torres.
“Raphael Varane, already in the list for months,” he bared. “Manchester United is also aware of a release clause in Pau Torres’ contract [€65m ($77.5 million) this summer and not €50 million ($59.6 million)]. ”
As for the Sancho transfer saga, an earlier report revealed that some in Manchester United are already talking about the “next storyline” as the Borussia Dortmund forward’s move is already considered a done deal.
According to famed transfer insider Dean Jones, it is very likely that Manchester United will stick to the £80 million ($110 million) budget for Sancho, and some people from inside the club are already figuring out whether the Red Devils will let the youngster wear Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic “No. 7” shirt.
“I’m still told £80 million ($110 million) is really the ceiling for United, they’re very keen not to be seen to be going over that,” Jones said during a recent appearance on The Football Terrace Podcast. “And however this settles they would like it is reported as an £80 million ($110 million) transfer and no more than that. That’s what I’ve been told and that’s what the club has been saying for some time now.”
“I was speaking to someone yesterday who said the next storyline will be, does he get the No.7 shirt? People are getting so confident and there’s more of a willingness on both sides to get it done now.”
