  • West Ham’s Declan Rice is still being linked to a transfer move to an array of big-name clubs
  • Hammers boss David Moyes made a shocking confirmation about Rice’s botched departure
  • The 22-year-old is only focused on winning with his current club

Manchester United may have just hit the wall in the pursuit of one of its reported top transfer targets.

Overall, the past summer was a success for Manchester United, having signed longtime target Jadon Sancho and orchestrating the return of Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, West Ham United’s Declan Rice is a name in the club’s long list of transfer targets that never came close to joining the Red Devils.

Even after the new season began, Rice continues to get linked to a move to Manchester United.

It was said that the midfielder’s value was the main problem as the reported roughly £100 million ($137 million) price tag set by West Ham successfully warded off suitors.

Coming clean about the subject, West Ham boss David Moyes admitted that there was indeed a £100 million ($137 million) “bargain” for Rice sometime during the summer.

It was intended to see if the player is really wanted by big-name clubs, and based on Moyes’ comments, it appears that the Hammers were proven right about it.

"There was a bargain to be got with Declan [Rice] at £100 million ($137 million),” Moyes told Sky Sports “That bargain has now gone.”

"We have a lot of really good players at this football club and I think while you're building and developing I think people might always come and look at your players,” he continued. "But it is good that they are because that is telling us that they're doing well."

Aside from Manchester United, other big-spending English Premier League clubs such as Manchester City and Chelsea were among the rumored suitors of Rice.

Earlier reports also claim that Rice’s value has skyrocketed to the aforementioned figure though Moyes is convinced that the 22-year-old is worth “far more ” than that.

It didn’t take long for Rice and Moyes to finally talk about his transfer link-ups as rumors have consistently been circulating.

The Hammers star insisted that he remains focused on winning with West Ham.

"We've spoken about it lots in the past," Rice said of the rumors last month. "Everyone knows how I feel about West Ham and how I feel about playing under the manager and what it's like playing with the group of players I'm playing with.”

"I feel you can see in my performances nothing's up, nothing's concerning me. I'm playing with a smile on my face, I'm going out there, I'm leading the team.”
