Manchester United Midfielder On Future: 'I Want To Be Happy, To Feel Important'

The summer transfer is slowly winding down towards its August 31 deadline, and teams are slowly making sense of their current rosters.

Most of them have already made their final decisions on who gets to stay on the team, who gets sold, and who will be taking a loan spell.

For Manchester United, this transfer window has been one of their most important as they certainly have their eyes firmly set on winning the English Premier League title after years of not reaching the peak of the mountain.

The Red Devils have since had one of their best transfer windows in recent memory as they’ve signed two world-class players in the space of a month.

Jadon Sancho finally arrived at Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund after a long courtship with Manchester United, and Real Madrid had agreed to terms with the Premier League giants to sell them Raphael Varane.

All in all, it’s been a busy transfer window for Manchester United and they’ve done particularly well in avoiding signing big-name players that won’t do much for them, like their decision to pass up on Jerome Boateng.

However, they still do have a few things to fix like Paul Pogba’s potential move to Paris Saint-Germain and shoring up their central midfielder group.

Midfielder Andreas Pereira was interviewed by TNT Sports after his one-goal performance against Brentford and he was asked about what he wants for his career.

"I'm ready to play, I'm not a boy anymore. I'm a man ready to take responsibility. I'm sure that with playing time and continuity as a starter in my position, I can show what I've done on base, I can score more goals and give assists. A player of my position needs the confidence to play and the freedom to be bold on the field,” said Pereira.

Pereira was also asked about his future and whether he still sees it with Manchester United.

“In Manchester or elsewhere, the time has come to play, to have at least an hour per game on the field, to have the confidence to play. I want to be happy, to feel important,” he stated.

The Brazilian had enjoyed much success during his loan spells in his professional career, and he was certainly well-received at Serie A side Lazio last season.

Pereira hasn’t seen much action with Manchester United as he has only scored one goal in 25 appearances during the 2019-20 season that prompted the club to put him out on loan.

The 25-year-old certainly does believe in himself, but if Manchester United are still in pursuit of a transfer signing at midfield, it’s expected that Pereira will be sold in order to make room for the new player.
