Manchester United central midfielder Paul Pogba says it is his dream to play for Real Madrid sometime in the future.

Following France’s 7-1 friendly win over Ukraine on Wednesday, Pogba openly admitted his desire to suit up for the La Liga giants when asked about his thoughts on the rumored interest from Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane.

"We have all heard that things have been said. What to say? Yes, all footballers would love to play for Real Madrid. It might be a dream," Pogba told reporters, via Goal. "It is a dream for me, why not one day?"

Rumors claim that Zidane has always wanted his fellow Frenchman at the Santiago Bernabéu. In 2019, strong speculation emerged that Pogba could be headed toward the Spanish side after the 27-year-old expressed his intention to leave Manchester United following a season marred by injuries.

The transfer, however, did not happen as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer convinced the France international to stay at Old Trafford.

Pogba turned out to be an integral piece for United, especially in its league run last season where the club barged into a third-place finish. And despite his admission, the former Juventus playmaker made it clear that his commitment stays with the Red Devils.

"But I’m at Manchester United and I love my club. I play for Manchester United. I want to perform well for them and do everything to get them back to where they deserve to be," he said.

It has been a challenging start of the season for Pogba. Perhaps it could be attributed to some conditioning issues stemming from missed pre-season training after he tested positive for the coronavirus in August, a report from The Guardian stated.

Pogba’s dismal play recently has drawn the ire of some United fans, particularly after Sunday’s stunning 6-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at home where he gave away a penalty.

Addressing the mounting scrutiny, Pogba said, "Every player goes through difficult periods but you have to be strong mentally and we all need to try and get the team back to where it belongs. It belongs at the top, fighting for trophies, that’s the club’s ambition. We know it’s not easy, but that remains our objective. We are fighting for that."
