KEY POINTS

  • Paul Pogba is one of Manchester United's most talented players
  • It's still uncertain where Pogba will end up after this season
  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may benefit from signing defensive midfielder Diadie Samessekou

The adjustments made in one’s roster are one of the biggest tasks for a club like Manchester United. With this, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly seeking to develop further his talent by seeking young star Diadie Samessekou who has drawn comparison to Paul Pogba.

The 24-year-old has been a bright spot for his current club the TSG 1899 Hoffenheim as he’s shown the potential he has on the pitch. The way Samessekou moves on the field has him compared to the elite players of the game with the combination of the athletic ability and the high intellect for the game. Per Red Devil Armada, Samessekou resembles Pogba with the way Manchester United could benefit from him as a midfielder.

Throughout his young career, Samessekou has been consistent on the field as a reliable force on the defensive end. In his current stint in Bundesliga, he’s putting up 1.9 tackles a game to go along with 1.8 interceptions an outing. To add to this, he’s also tallying 1.1 clearances a night in his 15 appearances in the league. The young talent has shown promise that would benefit Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s system, as the veteran manager is looking to develop his players for the future.

This would be a good fit for Samessekou as the developing player has shared that he’s always looked up to the rich history of Manchester United. Per Sport Witness, the three-time Austrian champions shared the possibility of suiting up at Old Trafford.

“Of course, since I was little, I’ve been a big fan of Manchester United. Playing in that league has always made me dream, and I want to give myself the means to achieve that goal.”

It would also be beneficial for Manchester United to have someone like Samessekou on the team. Given the uncertainty of Pogba’s future with the club, having someone of Samessekou’s skill and potential will complement the team’s foundation in the long run.

The current strategy of Solskjaer now is to hone his younger player further for the future. At this point of the year, Solskjaer would want to make the most out of his young talent in the roster.

It will be interesting to see how young stars like Samessekou will fit in with the club in the coming years if they ever pull through with this move. Player development is crucial for Solskjaer's system and it will be pivotal for any young talent entering the squad to make the most out of his experience with Manchester United.
