  • Romano bares that Manchester United isn't "100%" done with Pogba's contract extension

The truth about Paul Pogba’s transfer rumor saga may have just been revealed.

Ever since Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola divulged that he has been exploring his options other than Manchester United, different stories came out, mostly claiming the Red Devils are still likely to keep him.

Some have even thrown Juventus’ name on the mix, suggesting Pogba could make a stunning return to Italy.

However, according to famed transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, neither a return to Juventus nor a contract extension with Manchester United is true as everything about the World Cup winner is still hanging in the air.

“Just to give a clear message because Manchester United fans are asking about this [Pogba] situation,” Romano recently said on the “Here We Go” podcast. “I think [Mino] Raiola’s being honest on this point because we heard rumors in the last week like Pogba was one step away from signing a new deal with United. It’s not like this. At the moment, it’s not agreed. What is true is that Pogba is loving Man United life, he’s loving the atmosphere, he’s loving how the club has been rebuilt, with Sancho, with Varane, and of course, with Cristiano Ronaldo.”

“But, talking about his contract, it’s not 100% agreed yet,” he continued. “It’s been on the table since July, they’re talking with Pogba, but it’s not agreed yet. So let’s see what’s going to happen in the coming days for Paul Pogba but Man United will push again to sign his new contract, they want him to stay. They will try and try, as they are doing also with Solskjaer, directly involved for months, but at the moment it’s not agreed or done yet.”

"And so, many clubs are waiting to see what Pogba will decide because imagine Pogba is a free agent, it would be more than an opportunity.”

Looking at the façade, it appears that Pogba has been enjoying his time with Manchester United this season, especially with Ronaldo boosting the club’s confidence.

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, meanwhile, had earlier implied that he is banking on Manchester United’s promising campaign to lure Pogba to stay.

“Well, it's up to us now to get results and to prove to ourselves we can win trophies," Solskjaer earlier said when asked whether Manchester United can convince Pogba to stay. "Everyone who signs for Man United wants to win trophies. To be a part of a winning Man United, it's the most magical feeling in the world. Everyone's just focusing on doing our best and let's see where we go."
