  • Renowned European transfer insider Fabrizio Romano gives the latest update on Erling Haaland's possible transfer
  • Romano may have put Manchester United over other clubs as favorite to sign Halaand
  • Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appears to bee very keen on signing the Borussia Dortmund striker

Manchester United could be one step ahead in pursuing one of the biggest draws in the transfer market.

Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland has become arguably the most sought-after player in the next transfer window following his exceptional performances in Bundesliga.

In the English Premier League, Manchester United is among the big-name clubs being linked to Haaland’s name--with previous reports suggesting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have been plotting a move for his compatriot.

Baring the latest update from Haaland, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has been a credible source of transfer news, exclusively told Give Me Sport, that the Norwegian striker’s next move might depend on the outcome of the UEFA Champions League.

“Yes, there is a chance [Haaland could leave this summer] just because it depends on the Champions League,” Romano revealed. “First of all, I want to say that Erling is happy with Borussia Dortmund, he is tied in with Borussia Dortmund so he’s not saying 'Okay, I want to leave the club, I’m desperate to leave the club' but if there if there is a good opportunity, he’s leaving.”

"I think Liverpool is complicated at this moment because they are happy when with the team they have so they’re not planning to do something like a central striker for this money but obviously, I’m not the Sporting Director of Liverpool, but let’s see what happens! ,” he continued.

Furthermore, Romano hinted that it is Manchester United that people should “always keep an eye on,” suggesting the Red Devils could be the frontrunners in signing Haaland.

"But at this moment I see Liverpool complicated and let’s see what happens with Manchester United,” the insider bared. “For sure, [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer wants him but it’s not easy to sign him this summer because his release clause is for next summer. So you have to deal with Borussia Dortmund, negotiate with Borussia Dortmund, it won’t be easy.”

"Manchester City are looking for a striker 100% Chelsea are looking for a striker too, so keep an eye on Chelsea, keep an eye on Manchester City, always on Manchester United," he added. "And I will say Real Madrid in Spain more than Barcelona because for sure Barcelona president [Joan] Laporta is in love with Haaland but spending this money this summer will be difficult for Barca."

Solskjaer has always been an admirer of Haaland’s work, and though the Red Devils boss hasn’t confirmed anything yet, his earlier comments about the striker came across as if Manchester United is just waiting for something.

“He’s a Dortmund player and we just wish him well there and let’s see what life will bring later on,” Solskjaer said of Haaland last month.
