Manchester United Rumors: Solskjaer Teases Arrival Of 'Top Striker' Likened To Harry Kane

Aside from Amad Diallo, Manchester United is also monitoring the progress of another notable youngster in the under-23s.

The future appears to be bright for Diallo as he continues to develop his game in Manchester United’s U-23s squad. However, Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently expressed his desire to also recruit the Ivorian winger’s co-star Joe Hugill.

"We're going to give him (Diallo) the time to settle in," Solskjaer told Sport Bible after Man United’s 6-3 thrashing of Liverpool in an under-23 game on Saturday. “[But] If we go from that game [against Liverpool], I'd pick Joe Hugill.”

"Four goals by Hugill, he's a top striker as well, we're looking forward to seeing his development," the manager added.

All six goals of Manchester United’s U-23s team were courtesy of the highly-rated Diallo and Hugill.

Diallo, who scored twice during the said game, was the one who took the late penalty and not Hugill, who already had four goals to his name at the time.

Solskjaer was baffled why the youngster didn’t aim for five before he jokingly said, "Amad [Diallo] gets a good start and why Joe [Hugill] didn't take the penalty himself to get five goals? I'm going to ask him.”

Hugill has been phenomenal this season for the Red Devils. In 11 games, the English striker already bagged a total of eight goals and one assist.

Apart from his nose for goals, Manchester United academy coaches have always been confident about his physical abilities.

Towering at 6-foot-2, Hugill knows how to capitalize on his height advantage and is even being likened to Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane, 90min reported.

Diallo, on the other hand, seems to have already catapulted his way into Manchester United’s first team with Solskjaer previously suggesting the teenager’s promotion won’t be “too long.”

“Very good,” the Norwegian said of Diallo last month. “He can handle the ball, he’s enjoyed training, he makes a difference in training, which is quite remarkable at his age. ”

“So yeah, some adjustment to settle into the hustle and bustle or the physical part of the Premier League, but I can’t see it being too long until he’s in the [senior] squad,” he added.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s senior team had just mauled its English Premier League rivals Southampton. The Red Devils hit the back of the net nine times to humiliate the goalless Saints team at Old Trafford.
