KEY POINTS

- He moved from Dortmund to Chelsea in 2019
- Chelsea is open to sending Pulisic on loan in January
Manchester United are reportedly planning to sign Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.
Manchester United are looking to sign Pulisic on loan in the January transfer window, reported ESPN. Pulisic, who has a contract with Chelsea until 2024, is expected to be allowed to leave the Stamford Bridge side for the second half of the 2022-23 season.
Not a regular starter at Chelsea, Pulisic has made 18 appearances for the Blues so far this season across competitions, starting in only five. He has netted a goal and two assists for Chelsea this season.
However, Manchester United will have competition from the likes of Newcastle and Arsenal, who are also believed to be monitoring Pulisic's situation at Chelsea.
The American forward made a $70 million move from Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea in 2019. The player's representatives are now looking for a new club for the 24-year-old winger.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag wants Pulisic as the player can play in numerous positions across the front three, with the Dutch boss now favoring a two-winger setup in the ongoing season.
This is not the first time Manchester United has shown interest in Pulisic. The Red Devils made an inquiry about him back in August when the American star was reportedly frustrated with his lack of playing time under then-Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, according to The Athletic.
This summer, Newcastle United and a few other Champions League clubs in Italy and Spain had also inquired about Pulisic before Chelsea chose to keep the young forward in West London.
Pulisic is representing the United Men's National Team (USMNT) in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The Chelsea winger has been key in his country's two back-to-back draws in the tournament. Pulisic and his team will be next in action on Tuesday as they take on Iran in their Group B fixture.
Earlier this month, Manchester United parted ways with Ronaldo by mutual consent following the Portuguese forward's interview with TV presenter Piers Morgan. In the interview, Ronaldo slammed the club and its current boss Ten Hag, saying he did not respect the coach.
