Ex-Red Devils star Louis Saha thinks Marcus Rashford could become one of the best strikers in the world.

Manchester United is honing Rashford as a successor to the likes of Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo. The 23-year-old has been impressive in terms of goal scoring, netting a total of 11 goals for the Red Devils this season so far. However, Saha isn’t convinced that Rashford is up there yet.

In an exclusive interview with Genting Bet, the Premier League legend shared an interesting insight into the difference between a forward and a striker. For Saha, Rashford is not a pure striker but is definitely a “world-class forward” who has the “potential” to become like Ronaldo in United.

“Marcus Rashford is a world-class forward but he isn’t yet a world-class striker,” Saha examined.

“Rashford still has the youth and the potential to do it as Cristiano [Ronaldo] started in a certain position and now is the best striker you can ever imagine,” he pointed out. “Being a striker is an attitude and they obsess about scoring goals, they’re going to shout at any player that doesn't give them the ball and you shout to yourself because you miss a goal.”

Saha went on to praise Rashford's versatility, insisting, “Rashford can do whatever you want from him”

“He can defend when you need to and he can actually attack and create his own goals, score free kicks. He's a top forward. He's a top forward,” the former Red Devils striker emphasized.

“A striker is a different animal, a striker is someone who is really eager and you can see in his face that they want to score all the time and will focus on how to maximize the position where he can score,” he continued. “They won’t try to find that kind of ‘nice look’, a striker is just deadly.”

But Saha's previous comments about Rashford were in contrast to his latest views.

The 42-year-old earlier said that the Manchester native is indeed “one of the best strikers in Europe.” He even urged his former club to acknowledge Rashford’s qualities by treating him like some of the greatest players to ever grace the pitch such as Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar.

“He’s one of the best strikers in Europe,” Saha said of Rashford earlier this month. “When he’s in the middle, he’s unplayable. His coaches need to put him in ideal conditions, as is the case with Neymar, Messi or Ronaldo.”
