Manchester United Superstar's Market Value Of $224M Set To Fall To $124M This Summer: Report
KEY POINTS
- Pogba's value could drop to $124m due to the pandemic
- Man Utd could sell him this summer before his value dips further
- Pogba still has a year left in his Man Utd contract
Paul Pogba, who was signed by Manchester United for $224 million in 2016, could well see his market value drop drastically to $124 million amidst coronavirus pandemic.
The Frenchman, more than once, has made it clear that he is looking for a career growth away from Old Trafford. His agent, Mino Raiola, is believed to be doing everything possible to earn him a deal ahead of the summer transfer window.
Man Utd could go a step closer to clearing funds for their top-priority target, Jadon Sancho of Dortmund, by selling Pogba, before the latter’s value hits further low.
The COVID-19 has struck several sectors financially including the million-dollar soccer world. Even the richest of clubs are currently on the receiving end of this situation. There was no surprise when Man Utd executive chief, Ed Woodward recently said it would not be "business as usual" for The Red Devils during the next transfer window. While many financial experts believe Man Utd would be in a much better position this summer when compared to its rivals, things still won’t be at ease even for them.
Earlier, Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskajer said he was hoping to “exploit” this transfer window to strengthen his squad so that they can begin to challenge for the Premier League title from next season. Moreover, when he is aware of Pogba's thoughts about his Manchester future, Solskjaer might well let him go. Even the dropped price would generate some useful amount of money that could be used to bring Sancho to Old Trafford.
However, that move still looks difficult as Dortmund are not ready to reduce the Englishman’s transfer fee of $124m, as reported by Goal.
“There is no new situation. Currently, no club will risk anything in making a big-money move - not even in England. We have a long-term contract with Jadon Sancho and that is why we are totally relaxed,” Dortmund chief Michael Zorc said recently in an interview.
