Manchester United Urged To Treat One Player Like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi And Neymar
KEY POINTS
- Manchester United legend Louis Saha is impressed with Marcus Rashford
- Saha thinks the Red Devils should treat Rashford like a superstar already
- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes the 23-year-old can fully recover and join the team in the next games
Ex-Red Devils player Louis Saha thinks Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford already deserves to be treated like a superstar.
Saha is one of the Manchester United legends who often share their views about the club’s situation. His latest comment came ahead of United’s 1-3 Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.
For the 42-year-old, United should be supporting the progress of Rashford the same way clubs have been doing for some of the best players in the sport such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar.
“He’s a calm guy who exudes confidence and humility,” Saha told French outlet Le Parisien of Rashford.
With an impressive 75 career club goals to his name, Rashford has proven that he can surpass United’s expectations for a player who is only in his 20s.
“At 23, he’s already almost the oldest in the squad, one of the leaders,” Saha continued. “He’s one of the best strikers in Europe. When he’s in the middle, he’s unplayable. His coaches need to put him in ideal conditions, as is the case with Neymar, Messi or Ronaldo.”
Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was also shocked by Rashford’s success and progress. In fact, the 78-year-old even said the English forward should be the one giving him advice in life.
“He [Rashford] should be giving me some advice because what he’s doing at 23 is fantastic for a young person,” Ferguson told The Times U.K. “I’ve no need to tell Marcus because I think there’s humility in the way he lives his life. His feet are on the ground.”
“These are great qualities to carry you through life,” the renowned manager pointed out. “Football hasn’t changed him. There is a danger in football that it can change people, money can change people, stardom can change people. Getting a celebrity position in life can sometimes be a problem because not everyone can carry success well. And at the moment Marcus is doing that very, very well.”
Rashford has missed most of the 2020-21 Premier League season due to a back injury and is currently dealing with a shoulder problem. However, Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that his star forward has been training already and that he hopes to have him back for the succeeding games.
“Marcus [Rashford] has been training this morning, not fully but he’s joined in with the group,” Solskajer told reporters at a recent press conference. “Obviously his shoulder stopped him finishing the game, so he’s been getting treatment and hopefully he’ll be part of the squad that travels.”
“He’s having treatment now after training,” he added. “We've just got to be fingers crossed that it doesn't get worse because at the moment it is still manageable.”
