- Giancarlo Esposito teased details in a recent interview
- Moff Gideon will have a bigger role on the show this year
Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) will be back with his Darksaber in “The Mandalorian” Season 2. In a recent interview, the actor teased how he filmed some action sequences using this Jedi weapon. The TV series is expected to share more details about what happened on the planet Mandalore and how the villain came to possess their most prized lightsaber.
The finale episode of the first season teased Gideon coming out of a fallen TIE Fighter using the Darksaber. In a recent interview with Coming Soon, the actor confirmed that he has filmed action sequences with the lightsaber.
Esposito apparently “destroyed” many of the Darksaber props while filming his action sequences. This suggests that the fans can expect Moff Gideon putting the lighsaber to good use in the next season. The fight sequences were so intense that the people in charge of the props complimented Esposito for his commitment.
Details about the plot of the next season are currently being kept under wraps. Esposito isn’t allowed to share too many details, but he promised the fans that “The Mandalorian” Season 2 is going to be “really great.”
In a previous interview with Slash Film, Esposito teased that his role is “growing” in the next season. His villainous character appeared towards the end of the first season, but he will get an expanded role this year.
The TV series is already pushing the boundaries on what a show can achieve by using the real-time rendering of the virtual sets using Stagecraft. A recently released video showed the fans how the filming is actually done using this technology. It remains to be seen what new experiments Jon Favreau and his team have tried for the show this time around.
“The Mandalorian” Season 2 will be released in October. The producers are yet to announce an exact release date.
