'The Mandalorian' Season 2: Movie Directors Roped In To Help
KEY POINTS
- New directors have reportedly joined "The Mandalorian" Season 2
- James Mangold and Robert Rodriguez may have worked on some sequences
- The directors may have helped with the action sequences
Jon Favreau appears to be ambitious with “The Mandalorian” Season 2. After the massive success of the first “Star Wars” live action TV series, a new report suggests that the producer is bringing in two popular Hollywood directors to take the filming process to a new level.
According to Black Series Rebels, James Mangold and Robert Rodriguez have worked on Season 2 of the “Star Wars” TV series. They may not have directed full episodes, but they may have used their skills to improve particular sequences, Screen Rant reported. It is also unclear if they worked on a single episode each or if they had a much bigger role.
Bringing in Mangold and Rodriguez is significant because they have worked on westerns before. They are also well known directors in Hollywood with Mangold’s recent film being the hit flick “Ford v Ferrari” and he is currently in talks to helm “Indiana Jones 5.” Rodriguez on the other hand is known for “Alita Battle Angel.”
One of the theories about “The Mandalorian” Season 2 is that the popular character Boba Fett from the original trilogy may return. The possibility has already been teased in one of the scenes on the show in the first season, but there is no confirmation about it yet. Will Mangold and Rodriguez help bring back this presumed dead bounty hunter?
The other area where the two directors can play an important role is in the action sequences. Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) has revealed that he has the Darksaber, which is a prized weapon of Mandalore, and that means there may be some lightsaber action on the show this year.
Filming of “The Mandalorian” Season 2 has been ongoing for a while now. The next season will premiere in October. Meanwhile, the official Twitter page of the series has released some concept art for the fans to enjoy.
