"This Is Us" star Mandy Moore got candid about her health after a visit to her hematologist.
Moore, 36, shared a picture of herself at the doctor's office and revealed that she has been suffering from low platelets, which help blood clot. Moore and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, welcomed their son August "Gus" Harrison in February.
"Back at the hematologist to see if my platelets have gone up since having the baby," she wrote on her Instagram Story, obtained by Entertainment Tonight. She added in a follow-up post, "platelets are going up, but still not great."
"I'm on a mission to do whatever I can to get them to a solid place so I don't have to wonder or worry during the next pregnancy. Have to wait a few more months to absolutely confirm that it's infant ITP and wasn't gestational thrombocytopenia," she wrote.
Moore also asked her friends for suggestions on what "worked" for them. According to her, she has taken iron, b12 and folate and eaten "all the lentils and dark leafy greens."
Before Moore gave birth to her son, she shared that she was forced to rethink how she would welcome her child after her platelets dropped "exponentially."
"Weekly platelet check at the hematologist. My platelets have dropped exponentially during pregnancy and it’s sadly altered my birth ‘plan,'" she wrote at the time.
Moore announced the arrival of her son on Instagram in February.
"Gus is here," Moore wrote in the caption, revealing her son's nickname. "Our sweet boy, August Harrison Goldsmith. He was punctual and arrived right on his due date, much to the delight of his parents. We were prepared to fall in love in all sorts of brand new ways, but it goes beyond anything we could have ever imagined. M + T."
In her succeeding posts, Moore finally shared her baby boy's face. In one picture, she beams while holding Gus in her arms, who also smiles while looking at her. In another photo, Moore shared a snap of her husband and their child smiling at each other.
"Twins," she wrote in the caption.
