Manny Pacquiao Not Interested In Keith Thurman, Jeff Horn Rematch
Manny Pacquiao is not interested in a fight unless if it's against Floyd Mayweather Jr., Mikey Garcia and Danny Garcia. The new president of MP Promotions, Sean Gibbons, said that his prized boxer isn't keen on answering calls made by his former opponents.
Gibbons who spoke with The Philippine Star on Monday (PHT) said that Thurman already had his chance against Pacquiao. He stated that the former WBA 'super' welterweight champion already "had his shot. Game over."
He also shot down the possibility of a rematch against Jeff Horn. Pacquiao and the Australian boxer squared off at Brisbane in 2017, with horn earning the victory via unanimous decision. The Filipino champ's camp has since contested the decision, saying that the judges scored the fight in favor of the hometown guy.
Pacquiao's right-hand man also reacted to the Australian's calls with a few words. The MP executive sarcastically responded and said, "Horn who? Another desperate guy."
Gibbons also said that former welterweight champion Marcos Maidana is out of shape and is out of the radar. The Argentinian power puncher last fought in 2014 against Pacquiao rival Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The executive also told reporters that Pacquiao is busy with his senatorial duties and he will be taking the year off. Gibbons also added that Manny's camp wants Floyd Mayweather, but he maintains that Mikey Garcia and Danny Garcia are also potential opponents.
Despite the online clamor, Mayweather's camp has maintained that "Floyd won't be coming out of retirement." Recently, the American boxer posted a video clip of himself working on a double-end bag.
Fans have speculated that the former undisputed welterweight champ is seriously considering the rematch. The American boxer was lately embroiled in a social media spat with the Filipino fighter.
Floyd chastized Pacquiao for riding on his legacy, Manny replied and said that it was Mayweather that wanted the attention. Both pound-for-pound fighters have since laid down the rhetoric.
