  • Mikey Garcia wants to promote Terence Crawford
  • Garcia has been vocal about his desire to face Manny Pacquiao
  • Freddie Roach says Team Pacquiao is working on a fight against Garcia

Despite insisting that he should be Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent, Mikey Garcia is also open to promoting Terence Crawford.

In a recent interview with Elie Seckbach of EsNews, Garcia talked about his own promotion, Team Garcia Promotions.

When asked if he would want to promote the top guys in his division such as Crawford, Garcia revealed that he and “Bud” have already joked about it in the past.

But ultimately, the Mexican-American boxer would be glad to give Crawford “the big bucks.”

“When we were in Arizona, I told him [Crawford] ‘whenever you are ready bro, come to me and I’ll promote you,” Garcia recalled. “I’ll give you the big bucks.’ But you know, I was just b---s---ing and he was just joking about it too.”

“But if he’s having problems [with Top Rank] or looking at something else, sure why not,” he added.

However, Garcia pointed out that he will not try and convince Crawford to join his boxing promotion.

“I don’t necessarily have to be like trying to get him [to] come to me. He can obviously do whatever he wants. He got a lot of options I’m sure. He can go to any other promoter or network or whatever," he stated. "But if he wants to trust me and just hear me out, I’m sure I can do good.”

Even more interesting, Garcia also happened to be the third wheel in the recently verbally agreed Pacquiao vs. Crawford fight.

In another interview with the veteran boxing reporter, the California native bared that his camp fell short in sealing a deal for an in-ring encounter with the Filipino boxing legend.

“It didn’t work out,” Garcia said. “It was very close. We had dates for June and July, and it was almost a done deal. ”

Nevertheless, Garcia appears to still have a chance at getting a shot at the world’s only eight-division titlist.

Freddie Roach previously revealed that a bout against Garcia is already being worked out.

“He [Pacquiao] will fight again, I feel, and from when I’ve talked to him, he wants to fight once or twice more,” Roach said. “But the thing is, it could be anywhere from the U.S. to Saudi Arabia, anywhere. They were talking about Mikey Garcia and I said, ‘Yeah, that’s the perfect fight for Manny.’ But I don’t think we’ll really know until this [pandemic] is over.”
