March Madness 2021 Bracket: When Teams, Schedule, Dates Will Be Revealed
College basketball programs have begun punching their tickets to the 2021 NCAA Tournament during championship week, filling out the 68-team field. The entire bracket will be announced Sunday, revealing exact teams, dates, and schedules for March Madness.
Selection Sunday starts at 6 p.m. EDT on CBS. The broadcast will show the teams that have made the tournament and in which of the four regions they will be placed. The bracket explains each team’s path to the Final Four and the opponents they could face on their way to a national championship.
As of Friday morning, 11 teams know for sure that they will be part of March Madness after winning their respective conference tournaments, as noted by SportingNews.com. A total of 31 automatic bids will be given to conference champions.
No. 1 ranked Gonzaga is undefeated and has already clinched an NCAA Tournament berth by winning the West Coast Conference title. Drexel, Cleveland State, Oral Roberts, Mount St. Mary’s, and Morehead State are among the other teams that are locked into a spot in this year’s bracket.
Gonzaga, Baylor, Illinois, and Michigan are favored to earn the four No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament. March Madness staples Duke and Kentucky are expected to be left off the bracket.
The NCAA Tournament officially gets underway on March 18 with the First Four games. All four winners will advance to the first round, which features 64 teams. The first round takes place on March 19 and March 20. The field will be cut down to 16 teams with second-round games happening on March 21 and March 22.
The Final Four is scheduled for April 3 with the national championship game taking place on April 5. The aforementioned games will be played at Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium.
The entire 2021 NCAA Tournament is scheduled to take place in Indiana.
