Mariah Carey Confirms World Tour and "American Idol" Departure
Mariah Carey is leaving her "American Idol" judge's chair to prep for her own return to the stage.
The singer tweeted a statement through her PR firm PMK*BNC that confirms her departure from the show and her upcoming world tour.
Mimi then retweeted the message onto her own profile much to the delight of fans who questioned the initial tweet.
Carey's single "Beautiful," featuring Miguel, has been inching up the Billboard Charts, snagging Billboard's Hot 100's Airplay Gainer award, reports Billboard.com. The song is the first single off of her 13th studio album.
Carey is scheduled to perform at the "Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular," which will air on NBC.
The singer will be exiting "American Idol" along with the show's last remaining original judge, Randy Jackson.
Carey's newly announced tour will be her first official one since 2009's "Angels Advocate Tour," which headed to 23 North American locations and grossed $9.1 million, according to Pollstar.
