Mariah Carey And Fiancé James Packer Hope To Marry As Soon As Nick Cannon Signs Divorce Papers: Report

Singer Mariah Carey and her businessman fiancé, James Packer, are eager to get married. The only thing reportedly stalling their nuptials is Carey’s estranged husband, Nick Cannon, who still hasn’t signed the divorce papers.

Sources told TMZ that Carey and Packer hope to have their wedding shortly after Cannon signs on the dotted line. The media outlet reported that Packer has already finalized his divorce to ex Erica Packer, so the only thing they’re waiting on now is Cannon’s signature. Supposedly, Carey and Packer could get married as early as this August since her Las Vegas residency is set to wrap that month.

TMZ previously reported that Carey was frustrated with the “America’s Got Talent” host because she has been attempting to get him to sign the divorce papers for almost a year but that he was refusing. Cannon responded to the report, tweeting that it was a “lie.” He also mocked the report in his freestyle “Divorce Papers.”

In an interview with the online site KarenCivil.com, Cannon explained he released the song because he needed to vent about all the tabloid rumors surrounding his marital situation. “My purpose for creating this ‘Divorce Papers’ freestyle was not to feed the tabloid chatter, or even diffuse it,” he said. “This was strictly a creative way for me to express my frustrations with the media, the naysayers, myself and ultimately with the voices in my head.”

Cannon continued: “I’ve been sitting on the song for almost a week now because I was really torn on whether or not I should release it. The last thing I would ever want to do is add fuel to the fire, especially a fire that was fabricated by the press. But, ultimately, I felt it was necessary to clear the air and set the record straight once and for all.”

In a Father’s Day post this month, Cannon also mocked speculation that he was feuding with his ex. Posting a photograph of them posing together with their twin children and his mom, he wrote: “Leaving the Haters in the Wind! LOL They want us to be mad so bad! @MariahCarey but we happier than happy!”
