Mariah Carey Weight Gain? Singer Photographed Looking ‘Bloated’ After 49th Birthday
Mariah Carey looked “bloated” when she was spotted exiting her concert in Boston recently. The sighting of the celebrity caused some fans to wonder if she gained weight after celebrating her 49th birthday.
On Tuesday, the “Always Be My Baby” songstress was photographed exiting The Wang Theatre in Boch Center. The world-renowned diva looked very happy after wrapping up her concert there. She even flashed a big smile while being escorted outside the venue in the middle of the rain.
Carey, who decided to put her brunette tresses in a ponytail, rocked a black and white patterned midi dress and wore black suede platform heels after her concert. She also wore a pair of large designer shades to complete her look for the evening.
Interestingly, fans noticed that Mariah seemed to have put on some weight based on the photos. Some of them commented on Daily Mail’s report about the singer’s photos, saying that the multi-awarded singer looked “bloated” and “huge” because of her patterned dress.
ET Online previously claimed that the superstar had gastric sleeve surgery in late 2017. Carey did not confirm or deny the report, but a source told the outlet last year that she was quite pleased with her weight loss.
“She has always struggled with her weight. In the last five years it has become more and more difficult for Mariah to shed pounds,” the source said, adding that the singer was very happy because her weight loss surgery paid off.
Meanwhile, Carey turned 49 on March 27. Based on her Instagram posts from that day, she had a blast celebrating her birthday with the people she loves. One video clip she shared on the platform showed her getting covered in silly strings during the surprise party boyfriend Bryan Tanaka, makeup artist Kristofer Buckle and kids Moroccan and Monroe threw for her.
In the past, Mariah explained that she prefers to call them anniversaries instead of birthdays because she would rather mark the day she arrived in the world instead of counting the number of years that passed since her birth.
“I don’t count years but I definitely rebuke them … I have anniversaries, not birthdays, because I celebrate life, daring,” she was quoted as saying by PageSix.
