“Sex and the City” actor Mario Cantone couldn’t help but feel disappointed about the cancellation of the movie series’ third installment. He also suggested that he was open to do the film, for he needed the work.

Cantone stopped by “The Wendy Williams Show” on Tuesday to promote his new Lifetime holiday movie, entitled “A Very Merry Toy Store.” However, he also grabbed the chance to speak candidly on how he really felt upon learning that “Sex and the City 3” is never going to happen.

“With the ‘Sex and the City’ movie? It’s not gonna get done! And yes, we’re all very upset about it. I’m very pissed off about it,” he said before implying that he actually needed the work. “I had a lovely role in it. Willie Garson, who played Stanford, my husband, in it, we had quite a storyline. And you know what? Some of us needed the freaking work. So it’s really upsetting.”

When Williams asked Cantone if he called Kim Cattrall to talk about her decision to not do the third installment, the actor quickly responded: “I didn’t call anybody. I do not get involved. I step back. Whatever their negotiations are, whatever they spoke about. Whatever happened. I don’t know, all I know is it’s not happened.”

Sarah Jessica Parker was the first of the lead stars to announce two months ago that the third movie wasn’t going to happen. Garson at the time insinuated on social media that Cattrall was the one to blame, for she was not fine with reprising her role as Samantha Jones. Cattrall has since confirmed the rumor and she even suggested last month that the writers should just kill off her iconic character should the third installment push through, according to Us Weekly.

However, Cantone has once again reiterated what other stars of the franchise said about the zero possibility of having a new sequel. “No, Michael Patrick King — the writer and director — he’s not going to do it without her. Why? No! It’s not going to happen. It’s over! So stop it! Stop it, just stop it! It’s over!”

Cantone’s statement about needing work following the “Sex and the City 3” cancellation comes two months after he exited Comedy Central’s “The President Show,” in which he satirized former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, as per Uproxx.
