'Mario Kart 8' Release Date This May: Diddy Kong Confirmed As Playable Character

Looks like Diddy Kong will be coming to the Wii U’s “Mario Kart 8,” which will launch this May. On Monday, a leaked roster of playable characters in the upcoming racer appeared on Reddit, showing 30 optional choices from the Nintendo universe.

The leak verified that users will be able to control Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, Metal Mario, Yoshi, Toad, Koopa, Shyguy, Lakitu, Toadette, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Wario, Waluigi, Lemmy, Roy, Iggy, Larry, Wendy, Ludwig and Morton Jr. Now, Diddy Kong has been added to the game’s repertoire.

In a Spanish issue of the official Nintendo magazine, Diddy Kong’s face was shown as an optional character in “Mario Kart 8,” alongside characters like Bowser, Baby Mario and many others.

Earlier this month, Nintendo launched a new "Mario Kart 8" gameplay trailer that boasted detailed graphics, amazing special effects and original courses -- along with some impressive screenshots.
