Mark Wahlberg Reveals Why He Won't Appear In Superhero Movies
Mark Wahlberg knows superhero movies are "wildly successful" at the box office but he doesn't see himself doing such films.
The 50-year-old actor admitted that he is not one of those actors who believe superhero movies are not real cinema, noting that it's up to the audiences to decide.
"They [superhero movies] have been wildly successful," Wahlberg told Comicbook on Monday. "It's just that for me, personally, as an actor, I would have a really hard time walking out of my trailer with a cape on, and a spandex suit."
The actor is very excited about his upcoming sci-fi movie, "The Six Billion Dollar Man," which is based on a television series of the same name that was originally released in 1973.
"But that being said, I was working really hard to bring 'The $6 Million-Dollar Man' to the screen, which is based on a TV series," he added. "And it was based on a lot of wish-fulfillment and what this character could do, based on what they did to him."
The actor went on to explain that the original series was "grounded in reality and you felt like it would be much more believable as being realistic, to me, to be able to play that part, and feel like 'I could do this,' in a way that didn't feel silly."
"But you never know: maybe the right part will come along! We'll see," he added.
"The Six Million Dollar Man" has been under production since 2014. The movie was initially scheduled to be released in May 2020, but Warner Bros pushed the release dates. The movie is still under pre-production and is expected to release next year.
Wahlberg will be next seen in "Uncharted," which is based on a video game of the same title. The flick is slated for release on Feb. 18. The movie also stars Tom Holland, Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, Antonio Banderas and Patricia Meeden.
Wahlberg will also feature in movies like "Father Stu," "Me Time," "Arthur the King" and "Our Man from Jersey."
