Market ends lower after jobs data
U.S. stocks ended lower on Friday and closed out their worst week in two months as disappointing jobs data was the latest in a series of economic reports showing a tepid recovery.
Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was down 46.12 points, or 0.47 percent, at 9,686.41. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was down 4.84 points, or 0.47 percent, at 1,022.53. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was down 9.57 points, or 0.46 percent, at 2,091.79.
For the week, the Dow was down 4.5 percent, the S&P 500 was down 5 percent and the Nasdaq was down 5.9 percent.
