‘Marlon’ Season 1 Spoilers: Synopses For Episodes 9 And 10 Released
Ashley needs Marlon’s help to become a member of an exclusive social club in Season 1, episode 9 of NBC’s “Marlon.”
The synopsis for episode 9 reveals that the club Ashley (Essence Atkins) wants to be part of prefers new members that are couples. So Marlon (Marlon Wayans) accompanies his ex-wife to the club, believing that he can act appropriately in front of the club members. But can Marlon really behave properly at the club filled with wealthy people?
While there are concerns about how Marlon will act at the club, his close friend, Stevie (Diallo Riddle), won’t be a problem during their visit. In fact, according to the episode logline, Yvette (Bresha Webb) is shocked when she finds out that that Stevie fits in perfectly among the bourgeois clientele at the club.
Meanwhile, in Season 1, episode 10, Marlon and Ashley rehash the details of their first date on their first wedding anniversary since their divorce. The two, however — as revealed in the synopsis for the Season 1 finale — each have very different recollections of how it went down.
NBC has yet to renew “Marlon” for Season 2, but given its impressive ratings, the network is likely to order another season of the sitcom.
“Marlon,” which is co-created by Wayans and Christopher Moynihan, just set new total viewers high last week. Last week’s 9 p.m. episode (Season 1, episode 7) averaged a 1.3 rating in adults 18-49 and 5.5 million viewers, beating the show’s previous high in total viewers set by the series premiere (5.3 million), and matching the key demo record also set by the pilot. Last week’s 9:30 p.m. episode (Season 1, episode 8), meanwhile, drew a 1.0 and 3.7 million viewers, up in both measures from the 9:30 p.m. episode in the preceding week.
In related news, Wayans debuted on The Hollywood Reporter’s Top Comedians chart dated Sept. 6 at the second place following the increased attention around “Marlon.”
“Marlon” Season 1, episodes 9 and 10 — titled “Appropriate Marlon” and “End of the Road,” respectively — air back-to-back on Wednesday, Sept. 13, starting at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
