‘Married At First Sight’ Renewed For Season 2 After Vaughn and Monet’s 'Threesome' Discussion Breaks Ratings Record
FYI (formerly the BIO channel) launched just a month ago and it has already renewed its first series, "Married at First Sight." Fans can look forward to Season 2 of the reality show, which will have 11 episodes and 3 new couples. The reality show follows six people who are scientifically perfect matches. They get married without meeting each other beforehand and have to live together for four weeks before they decide if they want to stay together or get divorced.
The renewal comes just after episode 5, “Everyday Life,” aired and received the network's highest ratings yet, with over 600,000 viewers. The episode featured Vaughn offending his new wife by asking if threesomes were OK. The series is never short on amusing scenes like this (though the participants usually don’t seem very amused). Here are some of the most entertaining moments of “Married at First Sight” Season 1 so far:
1. The Threesome Discussion: It seemed like Vaughn was hoping to lighten the mood, but he ended up offending his wife while they were out on a date. After bringing up her disinterest in cooking, he then he brought up threesomes. Monet seemed disgusted by the thought, but Vaughn tried to tell her that she might like it. Vaughn and Monet were matched because of their traditional values, but someone should tell Vaughn that threesomes aren’t exactly traditional.
2. Jamie's Attraction To Doug: During the interview process, Jamie said that looks didn’t matter, but they suddenly mattered a lot when she was at the altar. The former "Bachelor" contestant was very upset on her wedding day when she didn’t feel immediately attracted to her new husband.
“Obviously I wasn’t like, ‘What a knockout,’ you know,” Jamie said. “I’m about to get married right now to someone I don’t know. I’m thinking I just made the worst decision of my life. I am so scared.”
Luckily, Doug took it in stride and Jamie said “I do.” The couple has been working on their relationship and seem to be doing pretty well.
3. Jason's Horse Adventure: Jason and Cortney are actually in the honeymoon phase of their relationship, so they have the least drama in their relationship right now. Yet when Cortney wanted to go horseback riding on their honeymoon in the Poconos, Jason wasn’t thrilled. Jason is a firefighter and an EMT from Brooklyn, so emergency situations and dangerous fires are OK, but the tough guy is scared of horses. “I’m not really worried about making a fool out of myself, but I just don’t want to die,” Jason said. Fortunately he managed to make it through the experience without any injuries.
4. Vaughn and Monet’s Wedding Night: Vaughn and Monet might be the most volatile couple on the show right now, but they were the only couple to actually follow tradition on their wedding night. Monet unapologetically told the camera that they consummated their marriage after the wedding. “The physical side of us being attracted to each other is the easy part,” Monet said.
