‘Married At First Sight’ Spoilers: Jessica Isn’t Sure Marriage Works With Austin’s Job
Even the most low-key “Married at First Sight” couples have some drama on the Lifetime reality show. Austin Hurd and Jessica Studer are pretty sweet and amicable, but one disagreement could change the course of their relationship. Jess tells fellow “MAFS” wife Katie Conrad all about the drama in an exclusive International Business Times clip from Wednesday’s episode.
The video (seen above) shows Jess and Katie on a porch. “Austin and I got in a fight,” Jessica reveals to a concerned Katie. “He says that he travels for work, but he never elaborated on it. It turns out that...he’s gone more than half the month [in October].”
Austin defended himself by saying that he told his new wife he travels for work, but Jessica says he never dove into specifics. She assumed it would be for shorter trips, but apparently he regularly leaves, sometimes even for 10-day trips.
“How did [he] think that was gonna work to get to know somebody and just leave them?” Jess wonders.
Katie, who is married to Derek Sherman, agrees that it’s pretty early to have big chunks of time apart, but they have had a lot of time together recently. “Married at First Sight” forces them to do a lot of bonding over eight weeks, far more than a normal new relationship would require. She tries to put a positive spin on it for her “MAFS” Season 10 co-star.
“Maybe it’ll be good for you guys, though,” Katie reasons. “We’ve spent so much time with our husbands now, and we’ve just met. So maybe it’ll give you time to miss him and you guys will strengthen your relationship in a different way.”
Jessica doesn’t seem convinced. She worries it could have the opposite effect and add another layer of discomfort to overcome.
“That’s a good point. But the other thing is sometimes I’m like a person that it’s harder for me to open up to somebody and then see them again after going two or three weeks without seeing each other and it’s like that awkwardness,” she worries.
Is this disagreement big enough to end a marriage or will Jessica and Austin overcome it? Fans will have to watch “Married at First Sight” Season 10, episode 14 Wednesday at 8 p.m. EDT on Lifetime to find out.
