‘Married At First Sight’ Spoilers: Matt Shocks Amber In This Clip

“Married at First Sight” couples move fast, but some things are little too fast. When the subject of kids comes up, Matt wants to pump the breaks, and wife Amber is shocked in this clip from tonight’s episode.

The sneak-peek video from Season 9, episode 7 (seen above) shows Amber asking Matt about having babies. “I definitely want them one day. Just want to be able to provide and take care of anything that might happen,” he says.

Fans have seen Matt’s provider mentality before. Earlier this season, he grew uncomfortable after Amber offered to be the main provider while he gets his new business up and running. It seems like he wants to focus on that business and his other goals before starting a family.

“I also have other things I want to focus on, achieve and accomplish before I have children, so I know it’s going to be up the road for me,” he adds. “Like at least another 5 to 7 to 8 years before I have children.”

This throws Amber, who is in her late 20s already. “Hold on for a second. Eight years? Are you kidding?” she asks the cameras.

“In 8 years, I’ll be 35,” she reminds him. “So you almost need to be with someone younger.”

She tries to control her emotions in her response and asks him if he thought about children before “Married at First Sight.” “When you signed up to get married, did you think about if the person wanted kids? Was that anywhere on your radar?” she asks.

Matt’s answer certainly doesn’t make her feel any better. “Kids don’t scare me. Being tied to and connected to that person that you had a kid with for the rest of your life, that’s what scares me,” he says. “It’s not like you can just say, ‘I don’t want to deal with you anymore,’ and move on. You can’t. You have a child together. You are automatically bonded by default to the other human being for the rest of your life.”

Amber has been pretty open about her abandonment issues, so this seems like a concerning response. It sounds like Matt isn’t sure they’re going to stay together at the end of filming.

This is confusing for Amber, who clearly views their marriage differently. “If we’re married than doesn’t that mean that we are bonded for life? What does that even mean? What does he think marriage is?” she asks the cameras.
