Jamie Otis and her husband Doug Hehner are having a baby! The couple, who starred of FYI’s hit show “Married at First Sight,” announced their baby news Tuesday revealing that their little bundle of joy is expected to arrive in December.
Both Jamie and Doug confirmed their pregnancy news to People magazine. “We can’t wait to start this new chapter of our lives,” Jamie said. “Being a mom has been my dream.” Doug added: “It feels like we’re just now truly starting our lives together. It’s the icing on the cake for us to be starting our family and we’re absolutely over the moon … We can’t wait to lay eyes on this little miracle of ours! We couldn’t be happier!”
Doug also commented on the baby news, writing on Instagram: “#BabyHehner says hello! @jamieotis & I thank all of you for the love and support, and couldnt be happier to share the news the [sic] we are Pregnant!!! #marriedatfirstsight @fyi.”
Doug and Jamie met on their wedding day two years ago on the dating reality show. Their first few years as newlyweds have been documented on the spin-off “Married at First Sight: The First Year.” On this past second season, fans watched as Jamie tried to pressure her husband into starting a family. However, he wanted to put it off until he had tackled his “pre-baby bucket list,” which included things such as ghost hunting, going on a safari and skydiving. The season ended with Jamie helping Doug cross off everything he had on his list.
In April, Jamie opened up about starting a family with Doug, telling the Knot that they wanted to have two or three kids of their own and then adopt at least one child. “I had custody of my siblings and was a foster parent for a couple of years when I was younger,” she explained. “Ever since I had to take care of my siblings — who are absolutely amazing! — I decided I want to adopt in my future. There are so many good kids in need of a loving home, and I hope to one day begin fostering again and eventually adopt a couple of children. Doug is completely on board with me on this!”
The 30-year-old went on to say that she and Doug, 35, are definitely ready to have a few little ones running around. “We had to go through a lot to be confident in our marriage, but now that we are on the other side, we couldn’t be happier to announce that we cannot wait to become parents,” she said.
So far, Doug and Jamie have not revealed whether they are expecting a boy or a girl.
