"Martha Bakes" returns; "Emeril's Table" premieres
America's homemaker, Martha Stewart, will return to the airwaves September 26 for a second season of Hallmark Channel's "Martha Bakes," the network said Wednesday at the Television Critics Association's Cable Summer Tour at the Beverly Hilton. The 13-episode season will air Mondays at 11:30 a.m. ET/10:30 a.m. Central.
For the second season of the half-hour series, Stewart will expand beyond cookies and cakes, into the realm of pizza, focaccia and croissants, demonstrating how an alteration of ingredients and techniques can yield multiple recipes from the same basic formula.
Characterizing the series as a "passion project," Stewart said that the second season is "quite expansive and features recipes that are near and dear to my heart."
Stewart won't be the only kitchen guru featured on Hallmark's airwaves this fall; the cable outlet also announced the series premiere of "Emeril's Table," featuring celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse.
The half-hour series, which will air weekdays and debuts September 26 at 11 a.m. ET, will feature Lagasse giving "the ultimate cooking lesson to a wide range of visitors: from newlyweds and busy moms, to fire fighters and vegetarians, giving viewers at home an exclusive opportunity to break bread with the renowned chef," Hallmark said.
Lagasse said that he wants the intimate atmosphere of the show to extend to home viewers as well.
"Food brings us all a little closer together and I hope that as we're gathering around my table each day everyone will invite us in to their kitchens and be inspired to cook along," Lagasse noted.
No need to worry about competition between the two culinary giants: "Emeril's Table," like "Martha Bakes," is produced by Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, with Stewart co-executive producing.
