What Is Closed On Martin Luther King Day 2023 In Los Angeles?
- Public schools are closed.
- City, state and federal government buildings are closed.
- The United States Postal Service will also be closed, and there is no mail delivery on MLK Day.
- Bank branches will be closed on MLK Day. However, bank services will remain available online.
- The New York Stock Exchange will be closed on Jan. 16 and will resume on Tuesday.
- Libraries around Los Angeles will also be closed.
- There is no trash, composting or recycling collection on MLK Day.
What Is Open On Martin Luther King Day 2023 In Los Angeles?
Costco
The Los Feliz Warehouse will be open on Monday on their regular schedule from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Federal Express
Federal Express branches in LA will open and make deliveries on Monday. However, their service schedule might differ from regular work days.
The Cheesecake Factory
The Cheesecake Factory branches in Los Angeles County are open on MLK Day. The branch at The Grove, on Via Marina, Santa Monica Place Mall, Sherman Oaks Galleria and The Shops at Anaheim GardenWalk will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Meanwhile, The Cheesecake Factory at Old Town Pasadena, on North Beverly Drive, in Bella Terra Mall and Westfield Santa Anita will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
United Parcel Service
UPS branches in Los Angeles will open and make deliveries on Monday. UPS Express Critical services for urgent packages will also be available.
Events In Los Angeles For Martin Luther King Day 2023
2023 UNCF Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast
UNCF Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Inter-Alumni Council will host the 37th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast this Jan. 16, Monday, from 7:30 to 10 a.m. The event's keynote speaker is George T. French Jr., Ph.D., president of Clark Atlanta University.
Leadership Long Beach Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
Leadership Long Beach celebrates the life of MLK on its 14th National Day of Service in honor of the activist. With the theme "Take a Day On, Not a Day Off," the group will kick off with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Long Beach.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day Unity Walk
Co-presented by the City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita City Council, the second annual Unity Walk will start at 9 a.m. and will be followed by a quarter-mile walk starting from the flagpole at Central Park, Santa Clarita.
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration: When You Stand Up For Justice, You Can Never Fail
Civil rights leader and president and CEO of the National Newspaper Publishers Association Benjamin Chavis Jr. is the keynote speaker for the annual celebration by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Westside Coalition to be held this Monday. The program will start at 9 a.m. and will be followed by a Community Involvement Fair at 10:30 a.m. at the John Adams Middle School Performing Arts Center in Santa Monica.
King Day 2023: MLK: A Legacy of Service
The California African American Museum will hold "MLK: A Legacy of Service" at Exposition Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. At 11 a.m., the group will listen to King's 1967 speech "Time to Break the Silence," which will be followed by a group discussion. The Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles will perform from 2 to 3 p.m.
