'Marvel’s Spider-Man 2' First Trailer Revealed At PS Showcase [Watch]

Insomniac Games released the first trailer for “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” during the recently-concluded PlayStation Showcase, and it showed bits of the game’s story, setting and potential new features that fans can expect in the future.

The short trailer started with a disembodied voice that’s looking for a challenging opponent. Meanwhile, Peter and Miles can be seen taking down thugs in an eerily dark, foggy and empty city street. As the voice yearns for a worthy challenger, Miles and Peter look toward a dark alley hiding the presence of Venom.

The events of “Spider-Man 2” will take place sometime after Miles’ story ended, and it will introduce a new storyline with bigger and badder villains. Apart from Venom potentially being one of the main antagonists, fans have deduced that the disembodied voice in the trailer is actually that of Kraven the Hunter, one of the most notorious villains Spider-man has ever faced.

Kraven’s lust for the hunt has led him to New York where both Spider-men have been keeping the peace. It’s highly likely that Kraven will be hunting down both Miles and Peter, but the introduction of Venom toward the end of the trailer may complicate things story-wise.

Insomniac hasn’t provided any other information about the game yet, so fans are left to speculate about how the story might go or what new features might be included in the game. It’s possible that the story will feature a three-sided battle between Venom, Kraven and the Spider-men.

However, it’s also possible that Venom might become a playable character, either in the form of an Eddie Brock or Harry Osborne host or as a black suit for Peter.

At the end of the first “Spider-Man” game, it was shown that Norman Osborn was holding a sick Harry inside an incubation vat, while an organism similar to the Venom symbiote was trapped in a separate container. This could mean that Harry will be the Venom host for this game, but none of this is confirmed so far.

Fans also speculated that the game might have a co-op feature, as Miles and Peter were seen performing a tag-team takedown on one thug during the trailer.

“Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” is expected to release in 2023 exclusively on the PS5.
