As Maryland's COVID-19 cases climb past 1,400, Governor Larry Hogan ordered a state lockdown on Monday.
According to the New York Post, the order would take effect at 8 PM, which meant that only those who have necessary business to do such as essential work, to get food or to get necessary medical attention could go out, otherwise, residents are ordered to stay home.
“This is a deadly public health crisis,” Hogan said Monday. “We are no longer asking or suggesting that Marylanders stay home. We are directing them to do so.”
The stay-at-home order also required Maryland citizens to avoid traveling outside of the state or use public transportation unless it is "absolutely necessary".
Hogan also added that anyone who has been outside of the area should quarantine themselves for 14 days.
“Every single Marylander can be a hero just by staying home and practicing social distancing,” he said.
