‘The Masked Singer’ Spoilers: First Celebrity Participant Revealed, Contestant Clues [Recap]
Fox’s new singing reality show, “The Masked Singer,” which is based on the South Korean series “King of Mask Singer,” premiered its first episode Wednesday night. The program features 12 celebrity contestants in full-on, identity-concealing costumes singing their hearts out to beat the others.
At the end of each episode, one contestant is sent home and asked to unmask and reveal to everyone who they are. Along the way, there are clues given out about everyone’s true identity, giving the panelists — Jenny McCarthy, Robin Thicke, Nicole Scherzinger and Ken Jeong— and viewers the chance to make their best guesses.
“The Masked Singer” premiere kicks off with host Nick Cannon making a Mariah Carey reference within the first five minutes — “Some [contestants] may be friends, some of them I may have married” — before the real competition starts up.
