‘Mass Effect: Legendary Edition’ Launch Date Leaked – When Will It Arrive?
KEY POINTS
- EA hasn't announced the official release date for "Mass Effect: Legendary Edition" yet
- Some retailers have listed March 12 as the release date for the game collection
- If they are correct, players will not have to wait long before getting the remasters
It seems those who have been waiting for “Mass Effect: Legendary Edition” will be able to get their hands on the remastered bundle of the original “Mass Effect” trilogy soon.
Some online retailers have listed “Mass Effect: Legendary Edition” as having a release date of March 12, Eurogamer reported. The listing was originally spotted by a Twitter user named Idle Sloth.
The game’s publisher, Electronic Arts (EA), has not yet announced an official release date for “Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.” The company only gave out a vague spring window in lieu of a more specific release date.
That said, should there be no delays and hiccups in the process of developing and preparing the game for release, a March arrival seems logical.
The retailers that listed the release date include Singapore online retailer Shopitree as well as Indonesian retailer GSShop. Both outlets indicated that the game collection will be available on March 12. If these are accurate, then players will only have to wait two more months before the game will become available for purchase.
The trilogy pack, which contains a remastered version of the original games that were released in previous years, will let players enjoy the genre-defining titles using today’s hardware capabilities.
EA hasn’t fully revealed just how “remastered” the games will be. It hasn’t officially revealed how the games will look when played using modern consoles like the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. That said, it won’t be long before such gameplay footage can be expected to arrive – especially if the retailers are correct in their listings.
Bioware, the game’s developer, announced earlier that the “Legendary Edition” will not feature full remakes of the original games, unlike what Square Enix did with “Final Fantasy VII Remake.” It only said the games in the new edition will feature updated “textures, shaders, models, effects and technical features.”
"Our goal was not to remake or reimagine the original games, but to modernize the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible form," BioWare chief Casey Hudson said at the time.
The devs also said that all single-player DLCs and promotional packs will be remastered to run in 4K Ultra HD.
