'The Matrix 4' Joins List Of Movies That Have Stopped Production
KEY POINTS
- Filming of "The Matrix 4" has been stopped
- Warner Bros. took the decision because of the spread of CONVID-19
- Production was taking place in Berlin, Germany
Filming of “The Matrix 4” has been stopped because of the coronavirus CONVID-19. The production had shifted to Germany after filming of some of the scenes in San Francisco, but the cast and crew will now go on a break for a few weeks until it is safe to begin work again.
The production crew was preparing to film in Berlin this week, but Warner Bros. has decided to put the movie on hiatus until further notice, Variety reported. Some of the other major companies like Disney, Netflix, and Universal Studios have also shelved some of their projects because of CONVID-19.
Several countries in Europe are currently in lockdown, and health professionals have been advocating social distancing in all countries where this virus has been spreading. The U.S. has also imposed some travel restrictions to ensure the safety of the citizens. In light of all these developments, Warner Bros. decided to postpone the filming of “The Matrix 4” “indefinitely.”
Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will be reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity respectively in the upcoming film. Pictures from the San Francisco shoot that have surfaced online show the two actors in costume riding a motorcycle, Page Six reported.
Details about the plot are currently being kept under wraps. Trinity appears to be taking a lead role in the movie as she was seen riding the motorcycle while Neo was sitting behind her.
Reeves’ character will have a new look in the upcoming film. After the clean shaved look in the previous movies, the character has a beard in the upcoming film.
According to a theory by CBR, one of the ways Neo and Trinity can be back in the film is if the virtual world is rebooted and all the people are brought back with no memory of their past. The franchise has already established that the virtual world has been rebooted several times in the past.
“The Matrix 4” is scheduled to be released on May 21, 2021. It remains to be seen if this release date will be changed because of the disruption in the filming.
