  • Ivanka Trump commented on Ellon Musk's post on Twitter
  • "Matrix 4" production was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic

"Matrix" co-creator Lilly Wachowski is not happy with Elon Musk and Ivanka Trump referencing her movie on social media.

On Sunday (May 17), the SpaceX and Tesla CEO took to Twitter and shared a cryptic tweet that read, “Take the red pill,” along with a red rose emoji.

The first daughter commented on Musk’s post with, “Taken!”

Meanwhile, Wachowski joined them by writing “[explicit] both of you.”

According to Variety, the statement “take the red pill” is a reference to Wachowski’s sci-fi blockbuster movie, “The Matrix.” In one scene, Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) tells Neo (Keanu Reeves) that he’s been living in a simulated reality. He offers him to take a blue pill to return to his life and forget about everything or take a red pill to learn more about the Matrix.

However, the statement has gained a new meaning online and is used to refer to conservative political beliefs. It is often used to relate to President Donald Trump.

After replying to Ivanka’s comment, Wachowski asked the online users to support Brave Space Alliance, an organization that aims to support the gender non-conforming people on the South and West Sides of Chicago.

Meanwhile, “Matrix 4” is already in the works. They began filming in February in San Francisco before moving to Berlin in mid-March. However, they were forced to halt the production due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Multiple sources told Variety that the cast signed for an eight-week extension to keep the actors on hold until at least July 6. The film is set to for release in 2021. However, Warner Bros. has not announced an exact date yet. It is also unclear if the sci-fi movie’s release will be affected by the delay in production.

The original cast of “Matrix,” Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will return to reprise their roles in the fourth installment. They will be joined by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Brian J. Smith, Toby Onwumere and Jonathan Groff.

Lana Wachowski and her sister Lilly wrote and directed the first three films, but this time Lana is working without Lilly.

“Lana is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in ‘The Matrix’ universe,” Warner Bros. said.
