  • Matt Damon's daughter Isabella thinks there's nothing great about 'The Great Wall'
  • Damon said his daughter keeps him grounded

Matt Damon revealed the reason his 15-year-old daughter Isabella will not watch his movie “Good Will Hunting." The critically acclaimed movie had Damon and his good friend Ben Affleck in lead roles.

During his guesting on CBS Sunday Morning on Sunday, Damon was asked whether fans still associate him with the film, which brought Oscar wins for both him and Affleck. His response included a big reveal about his daughter, who was reportedly not interested in watching it at all.

“Sure, yeah, fewer and fewer,” Damon told CBS. “You know, younger people don’t know it as much. You know, my 15-year-old refuses to see it. She doesn’t want to see any movies that I’m in that she thinks might be good,” he added.

To clarify his point, Damon said that Isabella, whom he shares with his wife Luciana Barroso, once told him that there was nothing great about his film “The Great Wall.” The film was released in 2017 and turned out to be a box office flop, with a lowly 35% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

“She just likes to give me s**t,” said Damon. “My daughter said, ‘Yeah, remember that movie you did, ‘The Great wall?’ I said, ‘It was called ‘The Great Wall!’ She goes, ‘Dad, there’s nothing great about that movie,’” he recalled while laughing.

Damon said, however, that his daughter helps keep his feet firmly on the ground. He also said he loves that his children are critical about his work because it only shows they have respect for his profession. “I like that they know that I love my job,” he said. “They know it’s me--consuming and a lot of work, and that it fills me up,” he added.

Damon also opened up about how becoming a father of four daughters has changed him as an actor, saying, he gets “choked up easier now.” “Ever since I had kids, my job has become a lot easier, because I don’t have to try,” he said. “I don’t have to reach for any emotions, whether it’s joy or whether it’s pain, because it’s all just nearby because the stakes are so much higher when you have kids,” he said.
