Matt Lauer Update: Anchor Sells Apartment Amid Annette Roque Divorce Settlement Rumors
Matt Lauer’s net worth experienced a slight increase thanks to the recent sale of his apartment in New York City. The fired anchor finally sold his Upper East Side digs amid rumors he is working towards a divorce settlement with estranged wife Annette Roque.
Lauer, who has been married to the Dutch model since 1998, has been laying low since he was terminated from his job at NBC. On Monday, the 60-year-old said goodbye to the residence where he spent a majority of his time while anchoring the “Today” show.
TMZ reported Lauer finalized the sale of his 11-room apartment, which features 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, two large dressing rooms in the master suite and a wood-burning fireplace. The anchor, who bought the co-op in 2004 for $5.882 million, was able to sell his place for $7.35 million.
Although he initially sold the part-time residence in April, Page Six reported the sale had to be approved by the board of the building before it could be finalized.
The official sale of Lauer’s posh apartment comes after sources claimed he will have to hand over around $50 million to Roque as a part of their divorce settlement.
“She will receive the horse farm, their current residence and a one-time payment of $25 million. There will be no child or spousal support and they will split the costs for the kids,” a source told Us Weekly.
Despite the rumors surrounding his marriage, those close to the anchor told Page Six Lauer did not sell his co-op to pay for his divorce.
“Matt used the apartment a few days a week when he was working in the city. He’s not working in the city anymore, so he doesn’t need it,” a source explained.
However, Lauer’s Manhattan pad is not the only property he is attempting to sell. The television personality slashed the price on his Hamptons, New York home to $12.75 million after putting it on the market for $18 million.
During the Paddle for Pink event in Sag Harbor over the weekend, witnesses learned the anchor is also trying to sell his vehicle. “He remained pretty incognito, but his car had a for-sale sign,” the onlooker told Page Six.
Lauer was fired from NBC in November 2017 after an employee accused the anchor of sexual harassment. Shortly after his termination, divorce rumors began to surround the journalist’s marriage with the Dutch model.
While sources have said the couple’s divorce is imminent, neither Lauer nor Roque have commented on the state of their relationship.
