Mauricio Pochettino Booted Out; Bad News For PSG, Real Madrid, Manchester United Coaches
Mauricio Pochettino’s almost six years spell at Tottenham has finally come to an end with the club’s Tuesday announcement that it has decided to let the Argentine coach go. Spurs’ decision was met with surprise and shock with the 47 years old coach saying he wants to come back to Spain. While it is still unknown where Pochettino would like to do following the end of his journey at Tottenham, several European elite teams like Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid, and Manchester United are reportedly circling the Argentine and would like him to lead their clubs.
After getting surprisingly axed at Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino now finds himself without a club. The writings on the wall did not look good both for the Argentine coach and the Spurs who have not won a single match in its last five Premier League matches. Spurs have not won in the last 12 Premier League games away from home and amassed most losses in the top-flight side. The Pochettino era is over in Tottenham, and only time could tell if the club’s decision is right.
While the announcement of Mauricio Pochettino’s axing is not good news, it appears that it is bad news for coaches of other European teams like Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid, and even Bayern Munich. Pochettino has been linked with Manchester United since rumors started making rounds of his plan to leave Tottenham. Considering Manchester United’s current performance, Pochettino leaving the Spurs could have Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thinking.
Additionally, it has been previously revealed that many board members at Old Trafford admire Mauricio Pochettino. Moreover, Pochettino’s dream of free-spending to get some of the finest players for the club would finally come true at United. Like Manchester United, Real Madrid’s Zinedine Zidane might also be in trouble with Pochettino’s current status.
It can be recalled that the Argentine coach was considered to be Real’s manager earlier this year but later decided to let Zidane make his hero return. But, given Real Madrid’s current form, it appears that it is not quite the hero’s return the club was expecting. The Spanish titans are five points behind Paris Saint Germain and are just a shadow of its former self, who dominated the European landscape during the first tenure of Zinedine Zidane.
In a recent interview with Daily Mail, Mauricio Pochettino said that he would love to return to Spain. With his skills and experience, the 47 years old Argentine has the mentality and attitude that Real Madrid desires. As with Paris Saint Germain, the club is always on the lookout for the best of the best in Europe, and Pochettino is one of the most desirable coaches in the market today.
