It looks like Lea Michele’s Valentina is going to show off her singing chops in next week’s installment of “The Mayor.”

In a couple of promo photos from Season 1, episode 9 of the ABC comedy, Val appears to be belting out a tune in front of Courtney (Brandon Micheal Hall), Dina (Yvette Nicole Brown), Jermaine (Bernard David Jones), and T.K. (Marcel Spears).

In the first picture, Courtney, Dina, Jermaine, and T.K. seem to be pleasantly surprised by Val’s voice. But in the other photo, the quartet appears to be concerned by what they heard.

While Michele sings well in real life, it remains to be seen whether her character on “The Mayor” has the same talent. But because the actress has been vocal about hoping to expand the way audience see her following the success of Fox’s “Glee” in which she played singer Rachel Berry, it’s likely that Michele’s Val isn’t a good singer.

In fact, Michele revealed to The Hollywood Reporter in September that she told “The Mayor” executive producer Daveed Diggs that it would be “hilarious” if Val was just a “terrible” singer.

The “Scream Queens” alum echoed the same sentiments during an interview with Parade in October. “The new challenge [for me on ‘The Mayor’] is I’m not singing. As of right now, they haven’t brought it up,” the 31-year-old actress said at the time. “I think it would be hilarious if she were a terrible singer. Or one day they catch her at church and she is singing the most amazing aria. One or the other would be fine with me.”

As for what else will happen in the next episode of “The Mayor,” the synopsis for the installment reveals that Courtney visits a homeless shelter on Christmas Eve. After realizing that things for the needy could be improved, he pledges to make it a joyous Christmas that every family deserves. But when he finds out that he doesn’t have the resources to deliver on his promise, Courtney loses hope as well as his holiday spirit. However, after Courtney gets a magical “It’s a Wonderful Life” moment, he realizes that he has the gift needed to pull off a Christmas miracle.

“The Mayor” Season 1, episode 9, titled “Grey Christmas,” airs on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 9:30 p.m. EST on ABC.
