McConnell Supporters 'Groping & Choking' Ocasio-Cortez's Cutout, AOC Reacts
Seven good ol’ lads apparently have some kind of “hots” for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), one of the loudest among the progressive voices in the Democratic Party calling out president Donald Trump for his racist and anti-immigrant policies.
A photo that surfaced Monday shows this all-white gang, each wearing a white tee emblazoned with the phrase, “Team Mitch,” surrounding a life-size cutout of AOC. In the photo, one boy is seen kissing and groping the cutout, another strangles it while four others make a Republican statement by flashing thumbs down signs.
Hard to tell if Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who’s currently recovering from a shoulder injury, condones this childish prank. But AOC knows exactly where she stands on the issue.
AOC called out McConnell Monday evening after eyeing the photo.
“Hey @senatemajldr -- these young men look like they work for you,” tweeted Ocasio-Cortez.
“Just wanted to clarify: are you paying for young men to practice groping & choking members of Congress w/ your payroll, or is this just the standard culture of #TeamMitch?”
The photo emerged Monday, or just a day after Ocasio-Cortez publicly condemned McConnell for not calling a Senate vote on a gun reform bill that was passed by the Democratic-controlled House back in February. Ocasio-Cortez’s blast came after the El Paso and Dayton shootings on Aug. 3 and 4.
“The House passed HR8, a Bipartisan Background Checks Act, *5 months ago* and the Senate has yet to vote on it,” she tweeted. “It was one of our 1st major priorities after ending the gov shutdown. You’ve been sitting on it since February giving bogus excuses. Care to explain the people why?”
Several other members of Congress such as Sen. Bernie Sanders (i-VT) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) are goading McConnell into calling Senate back into session to revisit and pass the bill.
“One awful event after another,” said Schumer. “Leader McConnell must call the Senate back for an emergency session to put the House-passed universal background checks legislation on the Senate floor for debate and a vote immediately.”
The picture was first posted on Facebook and then shared by a Twitter user named @emrazz.
“Break me off a piece of that,” reads the caption.
“Future federal judges of America,” tweeted @emrazz in response.
