McDonald’s Manager Punched, Choked By Angry Woman Over Ketchup [Video]

The manager of a McDonald’s store in Santa Ana, California, was attacked by a woman last month after the latter became enraged at not getting served enough ketchup with her fast food order.

The incident, which was caught on camera, took place Oct. 27 around 11 p.m. local time (EST) at the McDonald's restaurant, located in the 1500 block of North Bristol Street, Santa Ana. A female customer was collecting her food at the drive-thru of the outlet when she became furious after discovering her order did not include enough ketchup.

The unidentified woman accessed the eatery through the employee entrance as the dining room was closed and started demanding more ketchup. She was informed by the manager she could not be in the facility, which was when the woman started violently punching, kicking and choking the manager.

"The manager tells her, 'I'll be glad to help you, you just need to go up front,' and for whatever reason she took it upon herself to assault the manager," said Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna," ABC7 reported.

The surveillance footage of the assault showed a Hispanic woman in her 20s with brown hair, dressed in a light pink T-shirt and dark gray pants, having her hands around the manager’s neck and slamming him against a drink machine. The fight got increasingly violent as the woman continued to knock items off the counter top and spilling drinks as she shoved the manager against the wall. Meanwhile, another customer could be seen waiting for his order at the drive-thru window while employees were busy rescuing their manager from the woman’s clutches.

"There is no reason that any employee at any business should be assaulted by a patron, much less over not getting enough ketchup," said Bertagna.

At one point into the video, an unidentified man in a gray hoodie was seen rushing into the store through the same employee access door which is typically supposed to be locked. Although it was not confirmed, according to CW-affiliate KTLA, the man might have been the female employee’s accomplice as he pulled the woman off the manager, calmed her down and escorted her out of the store.

“We're actually grateful for the service he provided, he stopped the assault. But... we believe if you don't know her, but you might know him — our intent is to get her identified," Bertagna said. "She's the one that committed the crime.”

Although the police were looking for the whereabouts of both the suspected the assaulter as well as the Good Samaritan who stopped the attack, they reiterated the latter was not expected to be charged.

On Friday, a McDonald’s employee, working at a fast food outlet in Bluffton, South Carolina, was charged with third degree assault and battery after the worker shoved hot crispy bacon in the manager’s face and also hit her on the face, New York Post reported.
