“Mean Girls” began to trend on Twitter Thursday evening and it wasn’t because the movie was playing on television for the hundredth time. Oct. 3 has apparently turned into “Mean Girls Appreciation Day” following a reference from the 2004 flick, which famously stars Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Tina Fey.

In the film, Cady Heron who is played by Lohan, has a huge crush on Regina George’s (McAdams) ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels. She’ll do anything to get closer to him, even begin to flunk out of math so they can study together.

One day in class, he asks her the date. “On Oct. 3, he asked me what day it was,” she says, remembering. The film has continued to be a fan favorite even nearly a decade after it was released.

There is even a Facebook fan page dedicated to the Oct. 3 quote and it was more than 350 “likes.” Dozens of fans took to the page, with excitement, to say that today is the same day Cady talked to Aaron for one of the first times in the movie.
