Meek Mill Charged With Assault At Airport; Men He Fought Respond
It seemed like Meek Mill was staying out of the trouble following his breakup with Nicki Minaj, but the rapper is back in the news for all the wrong reasons. On Wednesday, the “DC4” rapper was charged with assault at a St. Louis International Airport after fighting an airport employee.
Following news of the incident, the men who Meek Mill fought with — Justin Card and De’Angelo Webb — told TMZ they were trying to get a photo with the rapper but instead were left to defend themselves. According to Card, he asked Meek Mill for a photo on Tuesday but was denied.
Card says he dissed Meek following the rejection, and that’s what led to the fight on Wednesday. The airport employee says he noticed the rapper’s team coming for him and felt like he needed to defend himself. Card’s cousin, Webb, was also involved in the fight.
“I was like, ‘What’s up, Meek? Can I get a pic?’ and he was like, ‘Nah,’” said Card. He went on to say that he knew the men in Meek’s team were going to punch him, so he swung first but said it was self defense. Card also says Meek punched him.
According to TMZ, Meek Mill and the men were charged with misdemeanor assault and given a summons to appear in court in lieu of arrest. The men claim they have since lost their jobs at the airport, but there could also be consequences for the “R.I.C.O.” rapper.
This latest charge could be a violation for Meek Mill who is currently on probation for a weapons and drug conviction. In 2008, the rapper was convicted of drug dealing and gun possession. He was sentenced to several months in prison and was released in the early part of 2009.
In 2015, the rapper violated his probation and almost found himself in jail again. He was able to avoid jail time by serving six months of house arrest and was ordered to remain on probation for the next six years.
